Going to college, a rite of passage, one of the few that remains in our modern world. Moms will cry, friends from home say farewell, but it is the college student who will step into a world of one's own. Wish them the best, this is a new adventure. Send them with special things, from one time period into another.

Fantastic! One should be so lucky as to have some great vintage touches in a dorm room! I'm pretty sure I had an antique mattress in one dorm room, that's the one vintage item you don't want!

Fabulous post Maggie! All the college days are behind us as all our kids have graduated and are all working (thank God). Lots of great memories.

I love your comments about combining the old with the new as kids begin their life away from home - very well written! All great finds to start that new decor!

My dorm was totally vintage including everything in my room, not by design of course. That was then and this is now. Now it is cool!! I have two in college and they are loving vintage and vintage industrial. That's a good thing because now I have vintage stuff again, now by design of course.
